I have spoken to several owners of S60 that were intested in the new S60 model, but the lack of spare tire and fog lights has changes their intrest in gettig the new S60. If you travel outside the USA is very difficut to obtein service when a flat occurrs specially at night. I live near the mexican border in calif. and wont drive without a spare. also the lack of the sun screen for the rear window. I send my comments to Volvo USA, but they never reply.

Yup - no front fogs and no spare tire for USA 2011 S60.

The self-supporting tire is available but requires a dedicated Volvo wheel - very $$$$!

The rear fog is standard and can be turned off by the operator.

Wait - rear sun screen is available!...

So get the new S60 with SST's (no spare needed) and a rear sun screen then order up a set of custom Hella fogs for the front.

I too was concerned by the lack of a spare tire, so I wrote an email to VOLVO of America regarding the self supporting tires option. Their response follows below.

Dear Herb,

Please find below the information you requested :

1. At a future point, can I mount regular tires on the same wheels?
Yes, standard tires may be used on those rims

2. How much of a difference is there in ride quality?
The self supporting tires are stiffer and therefore do make for a harsher
ride when compared with another 17" tire. If we are comparing with the 18" tire
(standard on T6) then the ride quality is similar since the 18" has a very short
sidewall. Differences in the ride quality are hard to quantify as this is
affected by road surface, driving style, expectations, etc…..

3. How is performance and fuel economy affected?
There is minimal effect on performance & fuel economy

4. How does tire life compare with regular tires?
Similar tire life

We appreciate your taking the time to contact us and for allowing us the
opportunity to respond.

Best Regards,
Kathy
