Hello VCOA buddies,

RE: 1972 Volvo 164 E high idle...really high..

OK, just left the mechanic and he said it needs an Auxiliary Air Regulator..one that is water driven, not electric...it has two hoses coming up from the regulator...mine is stuck open and he does not know where to get another one since they must not make them anymore...
So, any ideas...where can I still get one that is working...he said they were a pain in the day and were replaced quite frequently until the change in 1973 when they went to an electric one...here is the picture attached...it is the top left picture on the attachment.

Thanks guys, appreciate much.

Bruce

The air regulator was just a suspicion, but glad it panned out.

As to where your best source would be, George is our resident "Scrounge", so he probably has some info on that, but I have had success locating good used components from Erie Vovo. They usually offer a warranty as well.

Disclosure: I have no connection to Erie Vovo other than being a satisfied client.

Hi Bruce,

If you're having difficulty uploading images, it is probably too large or has a cryptic file name.

Make sure the name is something simple like airReg.jpg and the image should be no larger than 900 x 900 px. To resize you can go to Community/Image Editor and a new window will pop-up where you can upload and resize the image.

Good luck,
Ed
