I have owned 3 1800's in my life and am considering buying an 1973 ES. If I do,
I would join the club. However there is a question I need to get answered before
purchase. Is there anyone in the club who could be of help?
My question- I much prefer the 1971 seats [separate headrests and chrome plated
seat adjusters] to the 1973 seats [integral headrest and pained seat recliners]
WILL THE 1971 SEATS FIT THE RAILS ON A 1973?

The '72-'73 Volvo 1800 ES has a different front seat rail arrangement than previous 1800 models. A gentleman on The Brickboard has installed ES seats in his '65 1800S and stated that many modfications were needed.

If the '73 ES you are contemplating buying is in good or better condition swapping the seats would be well worth the effort.

Thanks.

Wait a minute - not so fast, George.

Update emailed to Joe...

Hello, Joe;

After more research I realize we need to bring in the guy that has personally installed ES seats in a '71 1800E - the very opposite of your intentions but relative NTL.

Here is the '71 1800E restoration site at Alan Auto...

...showing the ES seats installed.

Here is his ES restore...

...showing the ES seat rails.

Consider contacting Alan Auto for details...

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks.
