30 Years Strong!
Wow! There's a lot that's happened this year celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Volvo Club of America and the year is ending on several high notes:
In August a group of 48 VCOA members enjoyed a 12 day tour of Olso Norway, fjord trip, and visit to Volvo Cars in Goteborg. Activities enjoyed while in Goteborg, were test drives, visit to the experience/safety, tour of the newly expanded engine plant where the new line of 4 cylinder Drive-E engines will be produced, visit the the engine plant museum, participated in a rallye with VROM participants from Trollhatten (visit to the SAAB museum) back to Goteborg. Spent the last weekend enjoying the VROM car show, flea market, and Volvo museum. Six of the couples on the trip took Overseas Delivery of new Volvos to top of their experience of a lifetime.
In September, our would famous member, Irv Gordon, achieved an unbelievable record by passing the 3 million mile post on his 1966 Volvo 1800S and was awarded a new Volvo of his choosing at the Volvo Owners Open House. In October over 200 members and 105 cars gathered on the Commons of the Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont to celebrate a 'sold out' National Meet. Highlights included a benefit auction, car show featuring Irv's 3 million mile 1800 and the coming 2015 V60 provided by Volvo Cars along with a presentation of coming product changes. The event concluded with a poker run to Hemmings headquarters for museum tour. These first 30 years have been great and we've set the stage for even more growth and more fun to come. Stay tuned for more late braking news, buckle up, and enjoy the ride.
